About Patrick Fennell

Patrick was born, raised and has lived in Maine all his life. He is a retired award winning printer/lithographer/graphic arts technician. He co-owned a small, family run printing business in Southern Maine for 25 years. During high school he was the student photographer for his senior class of 1975 yearbook. After high school, he attended Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute majoring in Graphic Arts. During 1975, his brother Steve opened the small, family operated printing business with Patrick joining full-time the following year after college.

During his time with the company, they received 30 awards from the Maine Graphic Arts Association “Printing Excellence Program" held each year. Awards received were in several categories from stationary and brochures to museum quality limited edition art prints from local Maine artist. Patrick has spent thousands of hours in the various graphic arts departments of darkroom, plate-making and pressroom. It has been very special for him to be able to get back outdoors and practice his hobby of landscape/wildlife photography and astrophotography. The changes in photography since 1975 have been very exciting. He seldom shoots with film now and currently uses a Nikon P510 'bridge' camera and a Pentax K-30 DSLR camera.

Photographic and artistic influences include: Ansel Adams of course, Stephen O. Muskie, Bill Silliker Jr., Francis D. Chapin, A.H. Martin, Beverly Jockers, and Ray Lund.

Other interests: history, astronomy, astrophysics, silviculture, woodlot management, music, camping, hiking, biking and much more.
